In the test of the original game, enabling two more cores opened up additional image quality settings. But it isn't conclusive evidence of that because I can't account for what settings other people are using and what their other hardware is. So that sort of suggests that quad core optimization is not as good as it could be, or at least that clock speed, or clock for clock speed, is still pretty important. At that speed, in multiplayer I am never the one bottlenecking, and people with quad core processors have asked me what CPU I have just because my CPU sim speed is so good, sometimes better than the slower clocked quad core. The thing is, my Core2Duo overclocks to 3.4GHz easily. Again, the AI seems to favor a lot T1 spamming. The longer it takes me to complete a mission, the more it slows down. I do notice significant slowdown in the single player campaign. I think the reason why the AI slows things down so much is because they tend to spam tier 1 units. If I do skirmish with AI it is usually one or two AI.
